Falcon Lake Fishing Report - August 2008 |
|
Water level here at Falcon is at 273.2 ft. and holding steady. With the recent rains from Dolly, the lake came up about 1 1/2 ft. Fishing has continued to be good with fish moving into 7 to 8 ft. of water on small crankbaits and spinnerbaits during the morning hours. Then the flippin' bite is on around high noon until about 2:00 p.m. with Talon and Oldham flippin' jigs. Offshore action has slowed down a bit, but we are still catching good numbers of bass with deep running crankbaits on a PGC170-7'0" Power Tackle rod. This rod is an excellent crankbait rod to haul in the giant Falcon bass. Hot spots for spinnerbaits and flippin' jigs is mid-lake and Salado River. Deep structure football jigs and crankbaits are working best around the south end of the lake close to ledges and points. Salinillas has been producing good fish also. This month is when we catch some of the biggest fish because they are easy to pattern. Be sure to make some time this summer to get to Falcon Lake and catch the biggest bass of your life, and while you are there stop by and see us here at Robert's Fish and Tackle before you go out. We have a great selection of baits made for the lake and a hand selected assortment of Power Tackle rods made for this kind of monster bass. 'Til next time, Robert Amaya
