Falcon Lake Fishing Report-February 2009 |
|
The lake level is at 302.62 ft. dropping slowly. Water temp. is holdiong at 61 to 62 degrees. Had some cool nights and temp.stayed cooler than normal. Spawning has been later than in years past, looks like this year is no exception. Next full moon is on the 9th and hopefully the water temp will stay around 65 to 68 degrees and this should bring bass to shallow water. Still catching bass in 25' to 30' of water on main lake points and 15' to 17' of water flipping dead wood huisache trees. Make sure you have braided line in 65 Lb. to 80 Lb. test with a POWER TACKLE GM-5-7'3" grass rod special. These are a must to really get the fish out of the brush. Last couple of trips we have been averaging about 12 to 15 fish in the 7.9 lb area. Don't be discouraged , a lot of folks are catching 10 ad 11's. School bus, opec, and Coyote are good places to start. Big Tiger and Goose Bay will be getting some good action soon. Catfish is good in bird roost. Birds are hatching chicks and the cats are right under. Hot spot for the catfish is North 26 deg. 52.898' West 099 deg. 13.472' A lot of people are visiting us in our little community taking advantage of the cool weather.
