Falcon Lake Fishing Report-January 2009
Falcon Lake Fishing Report  January- Water level is at 303.5 ft. and water temp. during the day 64.5 degrees and at night around 59.6 degrees.  Fishing is good in shallow water 12- 12 1/2 ft. for spawning fish. 15-25 ft. for staging fish.  Main creek channels close to any flats specially North West banks and coves.  Creature baits, spinner baits, and craws are working better but you have to fish them slow.  Fish are not locked in the nest yet, but we are real close to full spawn.  A front coming in will pull fish back, but after they get started fishing will improve.  If you come to Falcon to catch a big fish; you need to fish deeper close to main creek channels, slow rolling spinnerbaits or big jigs.  The PG104.5 Power Tackle rod is made for this kind of tackle.  I like Power Pro 65-lb braid or the new Lake Fork 39.9 lb. test fluorocarbon coated line.  I have been fishing this line for the last month, and I have caught big fish with excellent results.  Best colors are green pumpkin, watermelon red, watermelon candy and watermelon purple glitter.  See you at the lake!!!
