Falcon Lake Fishing Report-January 2010 |
January, the lake level has come up about 4 in and the weather is warming up had some good fishing so far this month. Most of the big fish have been relating to deep water ledges, and the football rod FB4-7' 6" is the rod to use on these deep ledge fishing. Water temp. has been in the mid 50's, and it is slowly climbing up to the low 60's. Were are starting to catch some good fish from 4 to 15 ft. of water. The fish are on their annual migration to the spawning flats. The new PG104C has been working great also with the swimbaits, chatter baits and spinnerbaits with an Abu Garcia Revo 7:1 ratio spooled with 65 lb braid. This is the set up to get these big fish the next few months. Plenty of power to get the job done. The GM5-7' 3" is my favorite to pull the big fish out of the trees in creek channels close to the spawning flats.
