Falcon Lake Fishing Report-July 2009 |
July 2009 fishing report Falcon lake water level has only dropped about 4 in mostly from evaporation. The fishing has been great even with the hot summer days. The summer pattern is here and the water temp. is at 88 degrees. The fish are feeding early on wind blown points, I am using small crank baits and Texas rigged flukes using the PG143 6'10". This rod is light and fast enough to pull bass away from the brush. Around this kind of cover you have to move out to 8 to 15 ft of water later in the day to Texas rig a senko or Yum Dinger in the middle of the creek channels where you will find the submerged brush line. 1/8 or 1/4 oz weight on braided line and the PG-104 7'6" is a must if you want to have your best chance of pulling these fish out of the deep cover, just keep your line tight and the fish will come up to the tops of the trees and the fight is on! Falcon Lake has some of the meanest bass in the country! Also when the sun gets high in the sky and the fish move to cover, a big jig or a Texas rigged creature bait or a big worm on 65 lb braided line with the GMP-7'3" rod with a 3/4 or 1 oz weight flipped right down the middle of the brush is deadly on Falcon but you best be ready when you get the bite you only have about 2 seconds to react. Big crank baits in the firertiger and shad pattern in 20 to 32 ft of water around south end of lake along the deep ledges with 12 lb test fluorocarbon and the PGC170-7'0". You can fish these deep running crank baits all day and don't even break a sweat and when I hang a big fish it is coming in the boat. Give us a call and we will set you up with the Power Tackle rods and the tackle you need to make your vacation to Falcon Lake a GREAT ONE...till next time thanks Robert Amaya Robert's Fish N' Tackle P.O.
