Power Tackle - Falcon Lake Fishing Report
Falcon Lake Fishing Report - June 2008
Written by Tim Reneau - Pro Staff

Fishing at Falcon Lake is still fantastic.  I asked Robert Amaya, owner of Robert's Fish-N-Tackle to give us this month's report on Falcon.  Robert and his wife, Norma run a great tackle store in Zapata, as well as a guide service.  They also carry the Power Tackle rods that are best suited for landing the monster bass that are in this lake.

Because Robert is a guide, he is on the lake 5-6 days a week.  He reports that the bass are being caught on main lake points as well as the creek channels.  The early morning bite seems to be best on the rocky, gravel points and when the sun gets higher, they are being caught best in the creek channels and deeper points.  There is also big fish being caught in the heavy hardwoods flipping a 1 oz jig in perch colors.  The football jig, thrown with a FB4 is still producing lots of big fish in 11-25 feet of water.  There have been daily reports of fish 10-12 pounds being caught.

The water level is still fluctuating, but the lake is still about 25 feet low.  Though, reports are that Amistad will be releasing water soon, so the lake should come up a bit.

Remember, if you get the chance to fish Falcon, be sure to stop by and see Robert and Norma.  They are very knowledgable about the latest tackle and they are always willing to help you experience the best of Falcon Lake.

Good Fishing,

Tim Reneau
