Lake Amistad Fishing Report-May 2009 |
|
Lake Amistad Fishing Report-May 2009 Lake Amistad has dropped about 18” since last report, and a lot of fish have spawned, but there are still a lot of fish that have not, especially the big ones. You can still catch a great number of fish in a variety of ways. We have had good luck with a jerkbait in shad color. I try to key in on windblown banks and points. When using a jerkbait, my number one rod is a Power Tackle PG143 6’10”. We are also catching a lot of fish with a Texas rigged senko in green pumpkin red colors on a PG104 7’6”. I fish this rig on the main lake humps and secondary points in 12-15 feet of water. I am also looking for schooling fish in big creeks and over creek channels. In here, I am working a swimbait in an around underwater trees. This method as well as a top water bite should be about to start producing the big fish. I am expecting the top water and swimbait bite to get even better as the water warms up and the month goes on. Be sure to give me a call if you need some help on Big Blue and Good Luck Fishing!
