Choke Canyon August 2010 clarity: clear temp: low 80's Fishing is very good early and late, you have a small window in the morning throwing pop-r's and various frog baits. The bite has been good between 6:20-7:30 a.m. Afterwards, you need to go 18 to 25 foot, and carolina rig or drop shot with green pumpkin finesse worms and small brush hawgs. If you do fish all day in the brutal hot days with no wind, try flipping Oldham's 1 oz. camo jigs in the matted grass. Not a lot of bites but nice size fish. Later in the evening if you can't catch them on the lower end try the river with shallow running crank baits in 2-5 foot in all of the flooded grass. Good luck and good fishing! Charles Whited |
