Power Tackle - Lake Choke Canyon Fishing Report
Lake Choke Canyon Fishing Report-January 2011

water temp.  57

clarity:  stained

Fishing is starting to get really good up the San Miguel.  The water has been reaching low 60's, it could be an early spawn for Choke Canyon because of the warm winter that we have had.  Start looking for
spawning shallow fish at the next full moon in all the river pockets.
Fishing green pumpkin jigs and black and blue jigs.  Also we have been slow rolling
3/8th oz. white and chartruese spinner baits w/gold Colorado blades.
The mid lake and lower end is holding fish on deep points and ledges fishing Carolina rigs and one ounce football head jigs.  There are some fish being caught shallow but the most consistent big fish are being caught deep.  Colors consist of watermelon red, tequila sunrise and red shad.  Also try DD22's and one ounce spinner baits fishing very slow in 12-18 foot mid lake and lower end if the water temp. gets to the mid 60's.  Good luck and good fishing.
