lake: Choke Canyon
water: stained, temp 67
If you can find clear water in the backs of the creeks, there are still fish spawning and they are now a lot easier to catch. The fish are starting to move up on the deeper hard woods for a good flipping bite in the late afternoon. The new Power Tackle rod GM5, the Grassmat Special, is the type of stout rod you will need to pull those fish out of the hardwoods.
Use 1/2 oz. tungston weight and a double wide beaver, brush Hog, or a Strike King Rage Craw for an effective bite. Bigger fish have been coming on chatter baits with a swim bait behind it, use a Lake Fork Magic Shad in watermelon red or a Reaction fat head. The key is finding clear water.
