Lake Choke Canyon Fishing Report-January 2009 |
|
Lake Choke Canyon-January 2009 water temp: 57 water clarity: stained and around 6 ft. low. In January when we get a few warm days the river fishing will be excellent. The fish will start spawning at the end of the month and into beginning of February. Spending most of the time up river, fishing 5-8 foot of water using 7 inch power worms, june bug and red shad color mixed in with a deep little n crank bait crawfish pattern. If you don't like running up the river the lower end of the lake still has a deep bite 15-35 foot carolina and football head jigs. We are averaging about 25 fish per day with a couple being over 5 pounds. The end of the month should pick up for better fishing with more shallow fish. Thanks, Charles Whited
