July 2009 Lake Choke Canyon Fishing Report

water temp:  87

water clarity:  clear

June was an excellent month, had 4 fish between 11'11 and 13'1.
July should be as good or better. If you don't want to deal with the heat, night fishing is the answer.  For the night fish bite use black spinner baits and june bug 10 inch power worms, stay in shallow water about 5 to 10 foot of water. If you want to deal with the heat, start
early. There is a very good morning bite, (about a two hour window)
throwing various top waters and water melon red flukes and senkos.
After the morning hours head towards the deep water about 18' to 35 foot using a one ounce football head or flutter spoon, fish it to the bottom.  You can also three quarter ounce hot lipsin tilapia color and shad.

Thanks,
Charles Whited
