It's is now July but don't put your swimbaits up yet. There is still an excellent grass line bite here at Choke Canyon. The water temp. is 75 degrees and the water clarity is very clear. We are averaging about 15 bites on the 5.5 Bass Magic in shad pattern mixed in with the Zara Spook. We are also getting good bites on frogs. Look for areas holding bluegill on the inside of grass line, this has proved to be an all day pattern. If there is no wind, there have been good bites between 18'-25' with a carolina rig on a Power Tackle PG104-7'6", with your favorite plastics and a Texas Rigged 3/8 oz. weight in June Bug color and red bug with the same rod. The flipping grass is excellent with lot's of bites, but the big ones are hard to come by. I use an Oldham's 1 oz. jig and a 1 oz. tungsten weight with a double wide beaver in watermelon red on a PG105-7'6". When in the Choke Canyon area, be sure to stop by the Choke Canyon Lodge, they are carrying a nice selection of Power Tackle rods specially chosen for fishing this great lake. 'til next time,
