Lake Sam Rayburn Fishing Report-June 2009 As of May 31, 2009 the lake level at Sam Rayburn is 162.58 which is a little over a foot and a half below full pool. The water temp has been around 80 degrees. June can be one of the most exciting times of the year to fish Big Sam. I start each day by throwing either a Rebel Pop-R on a PG-143-6’10” with 14 lb. monofilament line or a chatter bait on a PG-104-7’6” with 20 lb. fluorocarbon around the pepper grass. As soon as the sun pops out I switch to a black Stanley Ribbit on a PG-104 with 50 lb. power pro braid. If the fishing is slow then back out to the edge of the hydrilla in 8-12 ft. and throw your favorite Texas Rig worm on a PG-144-7’0” with a 1/8 oz. or 3/16 oz. bullet weight. There is also a good crank bait bite on the edge of the grass. Try throwing a Norman Deep Little N on a PGC-170-7’0” in a shad color. Good luck on the lake. Thanks, Danny Iles www.johnstonfishing.com
