Lake Stillhouse Fishing Report - August 2008 |
|
If you're from this area you already know this lake is producing some incredible stringers. 27+ lbs is what it is taking to win on this lake and a lot of these sacks are over 30lbs. To find these sacks get very familiar with your electronics and start looking in 17 to 33 ft and really pay attention to the bait fish. Start searching for them with a PG104-76 with a carolina rig. There are numerous baits working so go with your confidence. After you locate the school, slow down with a football head jig 3/4 ounce or 1 ounce if it is windy. I have switched to using the PG104.5-76 because a lot of the fish are larger and their mouths have thicker skin for me to drive the hook into; not including your ability to make really long casts with this heavy bait. There are also some good numbers of fish coming on the jigging spoon. I have been throwing a 1.5 ounce spoon on the FB4-73. This rod has enough length and backbone to pick up the slack in your line and that is needed because 95% of your bites will come on the drop so really watch your line and know how far it should fall.
