Lake Waco Fishing Report-April 2009 |
|
Lake Waco Fishing Report for April 2009 Lake Waco is very finicky right now. Some fish are still holding close to their spawning areas and some are staying locked on their beds. Mostly, the bucks will stay on the beds due to the cold fronts. If they have a couple of stable days, the females will pop back out. When that happens let the fun begin! For starters I will have every PG104.5 7’6” and PG105 7’6” rod I have laying out with a barrage of different baits to flip at the big females. Lizards, beavers, small craw worms, and a white jig with red trailer to help really agitate the fish, and if I see the fish a little skittish, I will try wacky rig-style watermelon senko and a green pumpkin trick worm. Throw these 2 baits on a PG144 7’0” with a little lighter line. Good luck on finding these bedding fish. They are too much fun to pass up. Also, make sure you have a very good pair of polarized glasses like Costa Del Mar, Solarbats or Maui Jims. Good polarized sunglasses are essential in seeing these bedding fish.
