Lake Waco Fishing Report-May 2009 |
|
Lake Waco is now above normal which gives these fish even more cover to hide in which can make for some long days until you find them. To help cut some of that time down, don't just start fishing down the banks with brush. The whole lake is like that, start fishing on the high potential area points, small creeks and the larger creeks but in the larger creeks get on the flats have definite tree lines and fence lines or small ditches. Some fish are still spawning so if you can get shallow enough and find clear water, sight fishing is pretty good cause the bass are not getting a lot of pressure. I am using Spinnerbaits on 30lb. line and I am throwing it on a little heavier rod than normal cause most of the fish I am having to horse them out with a Power Tackle FB4-7’3”I caught a 8.09 lbfor big bass at a Skeeter Open this past month, so the big girls are out there! I caught her on a PG144 7’0” with a buzzbait. Good Luck, Lowell Bennett I am doing a lake report for Belton this month below: Lake Belton just got a lot of rain so it will probably be full in the next couple of days. Before this the fishing was great, lots of numbers of quality fish were being caught just about any way you really want. I have been catching a lot of fish sight fishing. Here I normally use a little lighter line when flipping at them. The fish don’t have a lot of cover to hide in so stay off the fish as far as you can and use the PG144-7’0” and 15lb. Seaguar and small baits like a tube. Also if the wind will allow it, a wacky will get you a lot of bites.
