Welcome Spring 2009!
You all know what that means…the spawn is either in full swing on some lakes and nearly over on lakes like Falcon and Choke. Check out our April Lake reports to see what baits are most effective on each of our main fishing lakes here in Texas. We have been so busy here at the shop…I know you have heard it before, but the Salt Water Rods are coming….we are testing different components to insure a quality and unique salt water rod like never before. Like its sister bass rods, these saltwater rods will have the highest quality components made into not only a beautiful rod, but one designed to enhance the boat deck of even the most extreme saltwater angler. IT IS COMING SOON!
New Dealers
Power Tackle has picked up several new dealers OUT of the Texas area. Thanks to our Pro Staff for getting our name out there. One new Tackle Store in Laurens South Carolina just picked up some of our rods, It is called THE 45 TACKLE AND GRILL. Co-owner Johnny Urbon stated when he received his shipment of our cranking rods PGC166 and PGC170 that “these rods are a work of art!” Johnny has just placed another order for rods. Make sure you stop by their store when you are in the area. Terry Scarafiotti from Nogal, New Mexico has also picked up the line of rods. His store is mostly an online store called STRICKLY FISHING. This will be a great convenience for the New Mexico anglers that are already using our rods and those that want to try more. Check out our dealer’s page on the site to see where the nearest dealer is to you.
BIG TOURNAMENT NEWS!
I will fill in our entire Tournament results down below, but we must put this big news down first!!! Most of you that follow the BASS ELITE SERIES Trail know that our own Mark Menendez won the 2nd tournament of the tour stop at Lake Dardanelle. The story of his win is one of the most unique ones I have heard in a long time. I will not tell it all here for lack of space, so read all about it at www.bassmaster.com and go to the Diamond Drive tab. There you will find each day’s launch story and how uniquely Mark won this tournament under very tough conditions. Of course his lineup of Power Tackle rods, Strike King Baits and his determination were the winning ticket. Mark’s main arsenal included, his very unconventional boat…a borrowed, wrapped aluminum boat with a 90 HP motor, Power Tackle rods PGC166 6’6”, and a PG104 7’6”, with Pflueger Patriarch casting reel in a 7:1 gear ratio. His Strike King baits included a Rage Tail Lizard, a KVD tube and a Coffee Flipping Tube.

Mark won the tournament with 55.07 lbs. Day one was delayed for three hours and then day 3 was totally cancelled due to bad weather.

Power Tackle Pro Staff Brian Clark was on the move also, but with day 3 being cancelled, he had to settle for 25th place. But that is certainly nothing to sneeze at, this was a wonderful finish also, and we are so proud of him. The guys left Lake Dardanelle and went straight to the next tour stop, The Evan Williams Bourbon Dixie Duel in Decatur Alabama. They will begin this week, April 2- 5. Be watching for more great news from this tournament!

As you can see March was a very busy month. Seems like the week days were beautiful and calm, then about Friday mornings, here comes the wind, rain and cold…but this did not stop a one of us! When you are out there doing what you love, nothing can dampen your spirits. In closing I am hoping for beautiful warm days for April…days that you can actually get out there and not be in danger of being blown into the lake, and hoping each one of you catch your “fish of a lifetime!” Make sure you send us pictures of your fish with your Power Tackle rod or a Power Tackle t-shirt or cap and we will get them on our Braggin Board! Be looking for more BIG results in our next issue…
Until next time…good fishing to you all! |
