Power Tackle - Toledo Bend Fishing Report
Toledo Bend Fishing Report-November 2009

As of October 31, 2009 the lake level at Toledo Bend is 173.35 which puts the lake about 1 1/3 feet above full pool. The lake has risen nearly 3 foot in the past week. The sudden influx of water has scattered the fish pretty badly. Most of the fish should have moved from the outside grass edge towards the bank. With the rising waters I would try to target the tops of the submerged hydrilla mats all day long. I would start each morning by throwing either a ½ oz. Stanley Wedge Spinnerbait in white and chartreuse or a ½ oz. chrome blue back rattle trap on top of the submerged hydrilla. I prefer to throw both of these baits on a PG104-7’6” with 15 lb. fluorocarbon. Most times I will continue to throw the spinnerbait all day, but if I cannot get bit on the blade I will switch to a watermelon red wacky worm rigged on a weighted Falcon “K” wacky hook in the 3/32 oz. size. I throw the wacky worm on a PG143-6’10” with 12 lb. fluorocarbon. Once the water level starts receding I would begin to target the edge of the hydrilla with crank baits and Texas Rigged worms. Try throwing both DD 22’s and Deep Little N’s in shad colors on a PGC170-7’0”.  During this time of year I prefer to throw a Texas Rigged green pumpkin Senko on a PG144-7’0” with a ¼ oz. weight.
Good luck on the lake.

Thanks,
Danny Iles
